Having two different widths is better than 2 different color and species of hardwood.
Two different hardwood floors next each other.
Ideally match it to one of the floors so you can avoid trying to work in a third wood.
You can simply separate them using wooden borders or t moldings in the thresholds of the doors.
When matching hardwood to hardwood homeowners can choose to find a species and stain that is exactly like their current one creating an identical match that is barely noticeable.
Or choose a different style of flooring all together for the kitchen a tile for example.
If you have cherry floors downstairs and oak floors upstairs or if cherry and oak rooms are always separated by carpeted or tiled rooms the effect of the difference is probably quite subtle.
If you want to install different wood grain floors in adjacent rooms it can be easy to do so.
You can also separate areas in large rooms with different grains of wood.
Or they can opt to have two contrasting instead.
Then you can sand and refinish both areas in the same color so they match.
It is better to create deliberate contrast with two types of wood than to try to match same or similar types of wood floor placed next to each other.
Even if your style is not on the eclectic side the transition from one floor to another doesn t have to look like an odd split.
The eye spots those near misses more as a mismatch than it does when they are completely different.
