The center is a drop in program for 14 18 year olds in the city of torrance.

The attic is a direct reflection of students. The attic is a place for torrance high school students to get away from their everyday routines. Our kitchen closes daily between 4 5pm to reset for supper. Several months after the attic youth center allegations were levied the new acting executive director shawnese givens spoke at the lgbtq state of the union about how the accusations had prompted the organization to examine its policies and procedures pay structure how power is distributed and how we talk about power and privilege in the organization.

The attic creates opportunities for lesbian gay bisexual transgender and questioning lgbtq youth to develop into healthy independent civic minded adults within a safe and supportive community and promotes the acceptance of lgbtq youth in society. A place that is committed to their voice and needs. The attic is proud to be philadelphia s only independent lgbtq youth center. Two attic youth center leaders suspended following discrimination allegations the lgbtq youth nonprofit s executive director and director of programs and operations were relieved of their duties.
